A FREE 10-week yoga program, run by Redland City Council in conjunction with Divine Jewel Yoga, will start in Cleveland on Friday.
The classes run from 7.30am to 8.15am in Bloomfield Street Park.
They will run weekly until March 17.
No bookings are required, but take a towel, water bottle and yoga mat.
Redland City mayor Karen Williams said the free yoga in the park program was part of council’s commitment to revitalise the Cleveland CBD.
“The Cleveland city heart offers so much because of its laid-back village atmosphere and Council is keen to build on that by making it more attractive and inviting to all through activities in the park and other community initiatives, as well as supporting our CBD businesses,’’ Cr Williams said.
The yoga classes are part of our active-communities focus and among more than 100 ideas received from the community.”
Division 2 councillor Peter Mitchell said the Snake Boss Reptile Show at Cleveland Library from 10am to 11am on January 17 also promised to be a big drawcard.
The show will see television series Animal Planet star Julia Baker show off some of her favourite pet reptiles.
“Youngsters will get to meet some very interesting visitors,” Cr Mitchell said.
