FUTSAL star Braydon Smith is learning at the tender age of 10 what it takes to compete at an elite level.
The Capalaba boy jetted off to Sydney last week to compete at the National Futsal Championships. It followed his selection for the U10 state team after an outstanding performance at the Queensland Futsal State Title in late March last year.
While Braydon will now work to develop his defender skills on the field, he said he hoped one day to get paid to play.
“I really want to be a professional, like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi,” he said.
With senior games a few years away yet, Braydon said he was happy for the moment to enjoy his favourite aspect of the game – making friends and meeting up with familiar faces.
His father Greg Smith said Braydon had made his family proud. Not only does the Coolnwynpin State School student play futsal at the Hibiscus Sports Complex, he is also a member of the Capalaba Football Club.
