Sirromet parkrun celebrated its first anniversary on Saturday with 609 runners arriving to take part.
The number of attendees was slightly less than the 620 runners who attended the parkrun’s launch event on January 9.
The official event director of Sirromet parkrun, Olivia Coop, said he average number of runners at the weekly events over the year was 68.8.
More than 180 volunteers had helped run the weekly event over the year.
Points competition winners were presented by parkrun territory director Alan Burrell:
Men
- 1st 4091: Ian Henry
- 2nd 4001: Liam Henry
- 3rd 3266: Drew Hahn
Female
- 1st 3020: Rebecca Redgwell
- 2nd 2207: Maree Coogan
- 3rd 1846: Debbie Eggleton
Sirromet parkrunner of the year awards:
Male: Mark Woodward for being always encouraging, a champion at volunteer recruiting, having run 19 times and volunteered on 13 occasions
Female: Ruth Ament for a 4.07 minutes improvement, doing 17 parkruns, achieving five personal bests, volunteered five times, being a role model to her children and often sacrificing her own run time to encourage and run with her children.
Junior: Liam Henry for doing 38 parkruns, achieving eight personal bests, for a 3.32 minute improvement, five volunteers, being one of the best cheerers and clapping and encouraging others as they run toward the finish line, even after he finishes.
