The Redland Bay Tennis Club held its annual open day last Saturday, with lots of people of all different ages turning up to enjoy an afternoon of fun and tennis and to find out what the club has to offer.
It wasn’t all about the tennis though with the jumping castle being a hit with the children and the playground getting a good workout.
The atmosphere at the Redland Bay Tennis Club was fantastic on Saturday afternoon.
It was so great to see some of the young children who were new to tennis and were picking up a tennis racquet for the first time and to see the excitement on their faces when they got the racquet in their hand and they first hit the ball.
Some of the children who attended the day had already tried tennis at school and enjoyed it so much that they were wanting to continue their tennis training and to start either group lessons, private lessons and/or fixtures.
The children had a lot of fun out on the court, with the club’s head coach, Tim Low, out there with them having a hit with those who were interested in starting tennis.
Tennis can begin from as young as four years old with a specialty program for those at that age and then developing into the older groups and then finally fixtures.
This time of year holds lots of excitement for tennis with the Brisbane International having just been held and then closely followed by the Australian Open.
By being able to attend these events or watch them on TV is a great encouragement to get out there and play the game.
Several families who are new to the Redlands attended the open day to sign up for the fixtures the club offers and also social tennis groups and to join the club as a family.
There are a lot of families who all play tennis at the club and this makes the club special, especially on our social doubles days when parents and their children can play together.
Tennis is a great sport for the entire family and is for all ages and abilities and is something you can continue playing for life.
The Redland Bay Tennis Club prides itself on being a club for everyone, at every age and at every stage of play.
The club has programs and events to suit all needs and requirements, whether you are looking for a social hit, fixtures, group lessons, squads, private lessons or even cardio tennis.
Featuring eight synthetic grass tennis courts, the Redland Bay Tennis Club is a modern, family oriented club for players of all standards and ages. It is located in Boundary Street, Redland Bay.
