AT just 16 years old Calvary Christian College student Madison Birtchnell hopes to inspire other women to follow their dreams and achieve their goals.
As part of her vision, Madison is organising a Super Women Conference during International Women’s Week.
Queensland Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath has agreed to attend the event, together with a representative from the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
Madison said she was organising the event because she wanted to inspire and empower women in her community.
“I hope to encourage them to follow their dreams and to always try their hardest in order to succeed and achieve their goals,” she said.
Madison said she decided to organise the event as a way to give back to the community.
She hoped school-aged girls, mothers and working women would attend and be inspired by the event.
“I want people to realise that their gender doesn’t have to limit their ability...and that people can make a difference in their lives.”
Guests will hear speakers, enjoy food and music and be able to win prizes through a fundraising raffle.
The event is free to attend, but Madison said guests would be encouraged to make a donation to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
Madison was supported by the school’s parents and friend’s association to apply for a government grant to help fund the event.
She is also looking for donations of items to put into guest bags and food and financial support.
The Super Women Conference will be held at Calvary Christian College’s community centre on March 11 from 1.30pm to 4pm.
