The first Girt By Sea painting exhibition and acquisitive competition with $20,000 in prizes donated by Redland City Council, starts at Macleay Island Arts Complex (MIAC) on March 3.
Some sculptures entered for the GBS $74,000 competition will be displayed in the waterfront gardens at the arts complex.
MIAC is excited to be presenting such a prestigious event representing SMBI artists.
Morton Bay identity Dick Bradley will open the exhibition at 6pm on March 3.
This exhibition continues until March 26 with MIAC Gallery open each day from 10am to 3pm.
Queensland Art Gallery Curators Peter McKay and Ruth McDougall will be the judges.
Winners will be announced at a presentation evening on March 18.

Following on from Girt By Sea, MIAC presents Fired Earth, an exhibition of members’ ceramics and paintings.
GOMA Curator Dianne Moon will officially open the exhibition on March 31.
Fired Earth runs from April 1 to 17, and the gallery will be open each day from 10am to 3pm.
MIAC is always a very busy art complex with regular pottery and art workshops.
