Business Feature
Dan Duffy of D J Duffy Building Services chooses HardieDeck to save time and add value and quality to outdoor building projects.
During nearly 40 years in the industry, Dan has built homes all over NSW. With his latest venture, DJ Decks, located in Coffs Harbour clients are enjoying brand new outdoor areas that are the envy of the neighbourhood.
TIMBER CAN’T COMPETE
Dan said after many years in custom building, he has a team and the tools that can make everything from window frames to staircases.
“I’ve invested a lot in working with timber,” he said.
Since becoming a decking specialist, however, HardieDeck is his go-to choice.
“A timber deck has to be maintained every year.
“Use the specified paints on HardieDeck and you can expect it to last much longer. You get that enduring quality floor finish, which saves hassle and adds value to your home.”
IDEAL FOR FIRE AND FLOOD
Dan said HardieDeck has been the hero of many projects for DJ Decks.
He said it’s ideal for replacing decks with wet rot, and it came to the rescue for one of his fellow builders looking for a fire resistant solution for his own home.
“He never thought he’d be building a deck until I showed him some HardieDeck samples.
“With metal subfloor, joists and bearers and fibre cement sheets to wrap it all, he’s built exactly the home he wants, and it meets the material standards for a BAL 40 rating.”
LABOUR IS THE REAL SAVINGS
When it comes to costing his projects, Dan has made savings with HardieDeck thanks to ease of installation.
“It might cost more per metre, but you’ll need fewer boards, which means less screws so you’ll get it all back in labour costs.”
His clients have been more than happy with the price tag and results.
“They’re getting a premium material and that clean, neat look and still saving money. It’s an easy choice for everyone.”
The HardieDeck team will be hosting a live demonstration on March 30 at the Cleveland Mitre 10 Trade Night from 3:30pm to 7pm at 25-31 Shore Street, Cleveland.
