Three members of the Redland Bay Tennis Club were in Townsville last week for at the Qld Secondary Schools Championships, representing Metropolitan East.

Team manager Ashley Bierton, Isaac and Dylan Goodhew joined two other boys for four days of gruelling tennis to compete against 11 other regions from all over Queensland.

The first day of competition was interrupted with rain delays, with only two teams events before play was called off.

The team was back on the courts at 6.30am the next day in tough conditions with extreme heat and high humidity. The boys played well and just missed out on third position and a podium finish.

It was a good effort from all the boys and their team manager to finish fourth out of 12 teams.

A team of four girls from Metropolitan East travelled with the boys and their team manager Joni Edwards also from the Redlands. They finished fifth out of 12 teams.
