CAPALABA MP Don Brown says federal member Andrew Laming has not delivered on an election promise to upgrade Rickertt Road.
Mr Brown said in State Parliament on Wednesday the LNP had promised during the last federal election to fix the road, ranked last year by RACQ as the fourth worst in Queensland.
“There were banners all over the schools,” he said.
“Andrew Laming was out there promising everyone he would fix the road. I took him at face value, but how wrong I was.”
In response Mr Laming said he was focused on building roads and leaving Mr Brown to media stunts.
“This is a guy generally laughed at in his own electorate, whose total achievement for Capalaba after two years is an empty dam and some shade sails,” he said.
“He is deeply embarrassed that other MPs are forced to step in and fund and build roads for his voters because he is too politically impotent to do so.”
Mr Laming said he would be making an announcement about the road fairly soon.
Quoting an article in Redland City Bulletin in June last year, Mr Brown told Parliament Mr Laming had promised $5 million to be added to $15 million from Brisbane City Council.
Mr Laming was quoted at the time as saying the upgrade would mean there would be four lanes to Brisbane which would be a massive improvement for Redland commuters.
Mr Brown said documentation from a meeting hosted by Redland and Brisbane city councils listed the Tilley/Green Camp Road intersection upgrade with a design cost of $1.3 million and a forward estimate of $13.5 million.
Mr Brown said the delivery of the upgrade of Green Camp Road from Manly Road to Rickertt Road to four lanes was listed as being long-term and the project status as in the planning stage.
