SINGING sensation Amy Shark has visited Capalaba State College after being impressed by their cover recording of her song Adore.
The artistic exchange came about after teacher Steve Brady recognised the enormous talent of the year 9 music class last year.
Inspired by the film The School of Rock, the class recorded the cover of Adore.
Mr Brady said he sent the recording to the singer, who loved it so much she agreed to come to the school to meet the students.
“Every student contributed to the recording,” he said.
Amy Shark is the Triple J’s hottest 100 runner up and a Queensland Artist of the Year.
Her song Adore reached number one on iTunes in January.
Mr Brady said the class performed for the singer.
“Amy also performed and shared her artistic journey, discussing her experience with film as well as music.”
Year 10 media students at the school got involved by documenting the experience.
“An early version of their documentary featuring the music students getting ready for Amy’s visit was shown to her in advance,” Mr Brady said.
"She loved the documentary and agreed to let the media students film her visit to the College to complete their documentary."
The music teacher said the singer had taken time out to meet every student involved, includin ghte backstage crew.
"She made sure every student got her signature and a photo. The students were talking about just how ‘real’ she was and her feedback to the students was individualised and personal," Mr Brady said.
