BAYSIDE local John Giacomantonio has celebrated working for the same supermarket chain for 30 years.
Mr Giacomantonio started in a night fill roll at the original Wynumm Plaza Coles in 1986 when he was just out of high school.
He went on to work at six other stores around Brisbane, including Woodridge, Sunnybank Hills and Carindale.
“Between working at various stores at Coles, 16 years of my career was spent in renewals, helping to set up new stores and refurbish old ones,” Mr Giacomantonio said.
“I used to love walking into an older store, refurbishing it, and seeing it look totally different once we were finished. It was the most rewarding role and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Now the grocery manager at the Capalaba Central store, Mr Giacomantonio oversees more than 20 team members.
“I’ve met so many great people along the way, both team members and customers, and that has been the best part of my job, he said.
