THE Russell Island Junior Rugby League Stingray U10’s celebrated the Anzac weekend with a tough game against the visiting Rochedale Tigers.
Anthony Gleeson representing the Russell Island RSL congratulated each under 10 player and presented them with an RSL medallion.
The Russell Island Club also marched on Anzac Day.
Coach Dale Wilmott said he was pleased with his side’s performance, although down nine tries to one.
“New players Jett and Blake Moore excelled as did the Taylor boys, Deakin and Cameron,’’ he said.
“Man of the match was Mikey Maxwell. Malcom Wilmott was tenacious and scored the team’s only try.
“Connor McClurg, Nathaniel Hoppo, Hayden Wilkes, Archie Moore and Antonio Martinez were solid in defence.’’
Russell Island Stingrays JRLFC president Tom Grace said the Stingrays next game would be against Springwood next Sunday at Springwood.
