HAVING travelled to Hawaii about 23 times, Irene Wade enjoyed feeling like she was back in Honolulu for her 105th birthday.
Mrs Wade was born on May 16, 1912 and lived most of her life in New Zealand.
She travelled extensively with her husband during their marriage and Honolulu was a favourite city to visit.
She moved from New Zealand to Australia in her late 80s when her husband died after a marriage of more than 60 years.
Together with the Hawaiian themed decorations, Mrs Wade’s favourite colour pink was prominent at the celebration.
The Butterflies, a group connected to U3A in Cleveland, entertained guests with music and singing.
The resident of Nandeebie Centre of Care still enjoys reading romantic novels and often forgets to put on her reading glasses.
Mrs Wade has two daughters, Pamela Sibly and Beverley Brecknell, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
