MEMBERS of the Redland Bay Victoria Point Lions Club have collected 51 kilograms of rubbish on Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, Victoria Point.
The rubbish was collected in two clean-up sessions, with 35 kilograms picked up during the first.
The nine Lions Club members picked up the rubbish between Benfer and Bunker roads as part of an Adopt-A-Road project.
Member Alison Muller said they were armed with high-visibility jackets, gloves and a great attitude.
“We received many honks from car horns and cheers of encouragement from cyclists alike in support of this very worthwhile project,” she said.
“There were a variety of items apart from the usual trash but the most unusual item of rubbish found would be an empty workman’s tool belt.”
