Hand made Mother’s Day cards provided an opportunity to foster a community partnership between members of the Redland Victoria Point Lions Club and children at the Day One Early Learning Centre at Victoria Point.
The children completed 110 cards which were distributed to women at Lake Sherrin Homes for the Aged.
The partnership stemmed from a conversation between the centre’s director Peta Wilson and Lion Natalie Reinke.
“We were talking about what activities Lions participate in and how the Centre could help within the community. Our delivery to Lake Sherrin Homes for the Aged was a success,” Ms Reinke said.
Ms Reinke said the project involved 30 children, three rooms and multiple art mediums.
“All the ladies were happy to receive a hand made card. One of the ladies Peta and I delivered to invited us in for a 10-minute chat, as we made our way around delivering the cards and gifts. A whole lot of creativity went into making this year’s handmade cards,” she said.
Ms Reinke said she was looking forward to Father’s Day to see what would come of this community collaboration as it moves into the future.
