Rally driver Paul Stokell, of Ormiston, took out first in Class and came fourth outright at Australia’s largest six-day tarmac motor rally in Targa, Tasmania in April.
Driving a 2014 V6 super charged Lotus ExigeI, Stokell said the placing was behind two Vipers and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. It was against a field of 4350 of the world’s best touring, sports and GT cars.
“The little Lotus punched way above its weight,” he said.
The 2500km unlimited speed rally, spanned the island’s toughest roads and mountain passes, a terrain the former Tasmanian grew up with.
“It’s always good to go back and even better to compete in what I think is one of the best events of its kind in the world,” he said.
Stokell currently owns four Lotus cars, as part of his Driving Events business.
