Lyon's slip of the tongue reveals Sandilands hamstrung with injury

Fremantle's hopes of beating the ladder leaders at Adelaide Oval are now severely hamstrung, with news Sandilands was suffering a hamstring injury himself.

But there was a lighter moment to the bad news, after Lyon erred in revealing the news to the media.

Shortly after spilling the beans, the coach turned to Dockers media boss Luke Morfese and asked: "Have we revealed that yet?"

To which the answer was "no".

Sandilands has struggled to get around the ground in recent weeks and Lyon said he experienced hamstring tightness after last week's win over Carlton and wouldn't be risked, with Jon Griffin the man likely to replace him against the Crows.

Young forward Ed Langdon will also miss the match with a knee injury but both he and Sandilands are expected to miss only a week.

"Aaron Sandilands wont play this week???and Langdon we'll just manage him," Lyon said.

"(Langdon's) been playing sore so there will definitely be two changes."

Lyon added that scans on Sandilands had confirmed the injury wasn't serious.

"He's just tightened up in the hamstring," Lyon said.

"It's just a bit weaker than we would like. The scan was cleared but it was a bit weaker. We need to get him strong again.

"Hopefully, (one week out) is what we're aiming for."

Lyon said Griffin was the most likely replacement for Sandilands.

"We're bringing in (Jon) Griffin, and he'll execute his role," Lyon said.

"Everyone brings something different to the table.

"Jon plays with a real passion and he's carried the number one ruck spot years ago for us when Aaron's been out and he's done really well. We don't expect any different."

There's still no news on when Kyle Sandilands will make his Dockers debut but WAtoday can confirm he needs to continue his gym work before being considered for selection.
