Andrew Groundwater, 21, of Capalaba has played a leading role in a short film which has recently had its world premiere in Brazil.
The film Afterlife depicts one man’s view of what happens in those 10 seconds between when the body shuts down and a person dies.
“This is one theory of the after life. They say your life flashes before you. It’s a time when you judge yourself and everything comes into play,” Andrew said.
The film is written by Jeremy Rigby and directed by Ryan Butler and was shot 18 months ago.
“I like that they took their time with it. It’s a quality production. Everything about the film is the best there is, including a custom sound track and editing. I feel quite proud to be a part of it,” Andrew said.
Having performed in several Mount Cotton Drama productions, Andrew said it was very different performing for film where time was spent getting everything right.
“On stage, you have to fix things on the fly. In your head, you go, ‘oh no’, then you keep on going hoping no one notices,” he said.
“With the film, I never really made sense of it till it was all put together,” he said.
Afterlife will be screened in Australia later this year.
Andrew is studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film, Television and New Media.
