In her first week in charge at Canberra United coach Heather Garriock says she expects to "win everything" at the "best club" in the country.
United are the W-League's most successful club but have bowed out in the past two semi-finals failing to add a third championship to the trophy cabinet.
The club are hoping Garriock becomes the catalyst for change in the post season and the former Matilda welcomes the pressure that comes with coaching in the capital.
"There are definitely massive expectations on me and I love pressure, as a player I performed under pressure... winning everything, that's my expectation I would think," Garriock said.
"It is a challenge being my first year and I'm very humbled and grateful for the opportunity at the best club in the W-League but I think I can rise to the challenge.
"I felt like Canberra United was a club that aligned with my values and I felt this was the best club for me to be able to perform at my best as a coach."
Garriock began her playing career at the AIS which led to 130 appearances for the Matildas and the 34-year-old said she is thrilled to return to where it all began.
"It was 18 years ago I started my football career in Canberra and 18 years on I'm starting my coaching career here and I'm very proud of that," Garriock said.
"I spent the Olympic year of 1999 and 2000 living here and I came here today [Friday] and remembered how cold Canberra is but I can't wait to get started."
The Matildas veteran only retired two years ago but the 10-club journeywoman said she'll be keeping herself constrained to the coaching box.
"It's probably best for me to stay away from the field, I have a bit of white-line fever so I think coaching is best for me now but I'll certainly try and instil as much from my playing days as possible," she said.
Garriock is already an assistant coach with the Matildas and said she would use the connection as a recruitment tool.
"I'm very familiar with all of the Matildas but in saying that I don't think we need to recruit too much," Garriock said.
"There is a lot of youth here I'd like to tap into so I think building the team around you and the international experience we already have will work because I don't think we need to add too much more, that's being greedy."
