SATURDAY night’s Cleveland criterium crowd and cyclist numbers were down on last year due to a clash of competition events.
It did not worry those taking part, with perfect weather conditions for the evening event that featured flat-out racing through CBD streets and high-flying BMX displays.
The Redlands Cycle Festival was put on by Wynnum Redlands Cycling Club and Redland City Council.
A criterium consists of laps around a closed circuit. Laps are usually 500 meters to 1000 metres and riders need to be able to corner smoothly with the ability to attack other riders coming out of bends.
