Chelsea Riley, 14, of Cleveland will represent the Redlands as a member of the Metropolitan East Under 15 girls football (soccer) team, competing in the State championships in July.
Chelsea was chosen from her Capalaba Under 16 division one team after recent try outs.
Chelsea started playing soccer at age seven, playing with Mooroondu, Redlands and most recently Capalaba. She has also played this and other sports at Ormiston College.
Her mother Tracey Maclay describes Chelsea as a girl dedicated to her sport who never misses a game or training session.
"She's very strong and athletic in her body and a good team player. She reads the game well and is well liked," Ms Maclay said.
Chelsea's twice-weekly training program with Capalaba has been extended to include a weekly training session with the Metropolitan East side until the State championships. She plays defence or centre.
"Her goal would be to play for Queensland and she is looking at a career in sports therapy or PE teaching," Ms Maclay said.
