NEARLY 400 people took part in the launch of parkrun at Redland Bay on Saturday.
For 44 people it was the first time they had completed a parkrun event.
The parkrun events are free exercise groups started in the United Kingdom and run by volunteers.
Redland Bay parkrun event director Cheryl Lawie said there was a great turnout and the weather was fantastic.
“We had 394 people who completed the course,” she said.
“There was lots of energy and fun.”
There were also some avid parkrun fans who took part with 72 people having completed more than 100 parkruns.
Three people had completed more than 250 parkrun events.
Ms Lawie said the event had been supported by locals and parkrun fans who encouraged people living in the area to join in.
She said all parkrun events had a standard format, but the Redland Bay course had the benefit of being alongside the bay.
“We have the best scenery and views,” she quipped.
