Mabins Dry Cleaners
Since 1986
Major shifts in the manufacturing of clothing is one of the biggest challenges facing the dry cleaning business today, yet Mabins is keeping a step ahead of the curve.
While business attire is constant with suits needing to be dry cleaned, the rest of society is dressing down for everyday working. Clothes cleaning is moving towards laundering.
“Some clothes now are not as upmarket so people don’t need to have a lot dry cleaned,” owner Richard Mabin said.
“We’ve seen big growth in shirt laundering, as well as moving into washing and folding with the personal services of a regular pickup and delivery for those who are time poor.”
At the other end of the scale evening and cocktail wear has become more delicate with new fabrics and sequins.

- Mabins Dry Cleaning
In 2011 Mabins purchased a Greenearth licence, which enables them to dry clean both business wear and delicate evening wear in an odourless silicone-based solvent that is totally environmentally friendly and extremely kind on fabrics.
The times are very different to those in the early days of the business’ establishment in 1986.
Richard switched a life of exploration for oil, uranium and coal deposits around the world to settle in Cleveland with his wife, Susanne, to pick up the dry cleaning business.
With a demand for a dry cleaning agency in the Redlands and a start-up available, they made the plunge into learning the trade.
Now there is little that Richard and his team of dry cleaners, pressers and seamstresses don’t know about spot removal, fabrics, cleaning, and alterations and mending.
If you need something special carefully cleaned, shirts laundered, pants altered or a zipper replaced, contact Mabins.
