- Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside: For playing on the wooden ship
- Wellington Point Reserve: For Climbing trees, paddling in the water and walking to King Island
- Apex Park, Ormiston: For riding dirt bikes
- Raby Bay Foreshore Park: For having a barbecue and riding scooters
- Mount Cotton Park: For having a barbecue, riding scooters and the playground
3. Think indoors
Movies, ten-pin bowling, play centres and shopping centre holiday activities can keep children of different ages occupied.
Indoor trampoline parks and indoor swimming pools are great for getting kids to use up some energy.
4. Be creative
Join the latest rock hunting craze.
Do ceramic painting or pottery with your children, or join in a holiday art class.
The Redlands Art Gallery hosts children’s workshops at different times of the year.
5. Head into the bush
Enjoy walking in the bush through Scribbly Gums Conservation Area at Alexandra Hills or Venman Bushland National Park.
6. Have fun learning
The Redland Museum is open daily from 10am to 3.30pm at 60 Smith Street, Cleveland.
There are interactive displays, opportunities for pretend play and a feast of old treasures that are entertaining and educational.
7. Go island hopping
Catch a ferry to North Stradbroke Island and the bus over to Point Lookout, where you can have a wander on the beach. Look out for the whales just off Point Lookout during the winter months.
The ferry ride over to Coochiemudlo Island is a short one and you can enjoy a walk around the island and a play on the beach, before heading back to the mainland.
8. Head out of the town
There are often fun activities for families at Southbank, Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens and at the Workshops Rail Museum at Ipswich.
