VICTORIA Point, Sheldon, southern Thornlands and Coochiemudlo Island would be the next Redland and island suburbs to get the NBN, according to Bowman MP Andrew Laming.
NBN would be rolled out in those suburbs next year.
Mr Laming said people who lived in those suburbs knew that waiting until the end of 2018 or even 2019 was intolerable.
“Many homes need high-speed broadband for school, university and work,” he said.
“It is frustrating to watch high-speed broadband rolled out in every suburb around these three suburbs, including Mount Cotton, Redland Bay and Capalaba.
“With delight I announce a rescheduling of these suburbs … High-speed fibre to the node (FTN) roll-out will now start and finish next year.
“That is half a year sooner than originally planned.”
He said these suburbs jumped in front of five northern suburbs and Thornlands north of Zeigenfusz Road which was currently set for late 2019.
North Stradbroke Island and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands would also be connected later.
