WELLINGTON Point swimming star Rylee Grier-Stralow is set for the Brisbane Short Course Championships after coming home with five medals from the Special Olympics Junior National Games.
The 14-year-old won four gold medals and a bronze for the Queensland team at the event on the Gold Coast earlier this month.
Rylee won gold in 50 metre breaststroke, 100 metre breaststroke, 100 metre freestyle and 200 metre medley relay.
She also competed in the basketball event, winning the bronze medal.
Rylee’s mother Robyn Grier-Stralow said athletes were selected for one individual and one team sport.
“I am very pleased with Rylee’s basketball results as she only trains one night a week as she has no time due to her swimming commitments,” she said.
Rylee is set to compete in eight events at the Short Course Championships at Chandler on August 5 and 6.
Previously a student at Seton College, Rylee enrolled at Wellington Point State High School this month.
Rylee was born three months premature and has an intellectual disability.
She trains with Wellington Point Allstars at the Redlands College pool.
