Artist Amanda Stean of Birkdale is making a colourful statement with several large art pieces currently on display at Refuelled at Wellington Point.
Ms Stean specialises in acrylic and pouring medium to create colourful abstract art.
“I love living in the Redlands and find all of the beautiful surrounds we live amongst here very inspiring and I am grateful for such beauty. Therefore this is a major part to my creativitye said.
“I has always been creative and many years ago found my love for painting. My work is inspired by my passion of tropical plants and gardening, my love of the coast and the gorgeous Queensland weather.”
Raised on a cattle and sheep farm in country New South Wales, Ms Stean moved to Melbourne to pursue a 10-year career in television production. She then moved to London, travelling extensively. She returned to Australia with her young family with her two children now attending Wellington Point State School.
“I like to style my house in a particular way and the paintings became a part of that. It got a good reaction so I am doing some home styling as well as painting,” she said.
Ms Stean favours large and colourful works.
“I think they make more of a statement. I live in Queensland now where everything is bright and colourful,” she said.
Recently she was among 40 artists chosen State-wide to showcase her work in a Raw Exhibition in September.
