On Thursday July 20 the Redlands Rugby League under 13 girls team were invited alongside the under 13 Parkwood Sharks to play the half-time mini game at the Broncos vs Bulldogs NRL game, celebrating the Women in League Round.
On arrival at Suncorp Stadium, the girls were told of an extra special surprise in that they would be running hand in hand with the Broncos for their kick off at 7.50pm. Redlands coaches and parents were so proud to see them run out on the field and represent the club. It is likely the girls will watch repeats of this game for a while to come.
At half-time the Redlands Rugby League girls took the field and played a spectacular game of football. Nothing like a 24,000 plus crowd to get your heart pumping and motivate you to go out and do what you love. Their coach Mick Nielsen could not have been prouder in the way they played.
This is the first year of rugby league for the Redlands under 13 girls and to be given an amazing opportunity like this to play at the best stadium in Australia is something they will not forget.
Redlands Rugby League Club hope to see more girls signing up next season, with the girls competition continuing to grow.
The game was a fantastic way for Redlands Rugby League girls to celebrate Women in League.
