About 100 Mercedes-Benz vehicles will be on display in the grounds of Ormiston House from 10.30am to 2pm on Sunday, August 13 when the Mercedes-Benz Club of Queensland stages its annual competition for its best classic and modern cars as part of its 2017 Concours d’Elegance.
Ranging from pre-war models through to the very latest offerings from the world’s oldest car maker, club members and guests from interstate clubs will display a varied collection of vehicles, including a rare 300 SL roadster, classic limousines, sports cars and an ex-Swiss Army Unimog Ambulance, now converted to a go anywhere camper.
There will also be a go anywhere off-road truck Zetros aimed at the mining and fire-fighting sectors and a new purpose-designed truck not seen before in Queensland.
Club members’ vehicles will compete for trophies in a number of categories, gaining marks for originality, mechanical and body presentation and cleanliness.
The club’s major sponsor, Mercedes-Benz Brisbane, will display some of its latest offerings, including Mercedes AMG.
Open to the public, admission to the grounds of Ormiston is $5 per person and includes a tour of the historic house. Refreshments are available on the veranda and proceeds support the Friends of Ormiston.
The Mercedes-Benz Club of Queensland is officially affiliated with the Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Clubs International, managed by the parent company, Daimler AG, in Stuttgart, Germany.
