THORNLANDS couple Peter Uscinski and Robin Eastgate met at a motor car rally in July 1956.
Daughter Christine Argo of Cleveland said it was love at first sight, with the couple about to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
“After their third date Peter proposed to Robin and they were married 2 August, 1957,” she said.
“They started life together at Mt Gravatt.
“After three years, they then moved to Coorparoo which was closer to Peter’s engineering business.
“However, when they discovered the Redlands in 1971 they settled there to raise their four beautiful children, all of whom live in the Redlands to this day.”
Ms Argo said Peter and Robyn reckoned that the secret to a happy 60 years of marriage – with all its challenges – was total commitment, good communication, forgiveness and lots of unconditional love.
