Island Made visits Redland Art Gallery this month, displaying exceptional objects for ordinary use, handmade on Southern Moreton Bay, Coochiemudlo and North Stradbroke Islands.
On the final day of the exhibition the public are invited to visit the Island Made exhibition at Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland and then join the culture and environment boat trip from Cleveland to Russell Island (via Dunwich and Coochiemudlo).
Beginning at 9.30am on Sunday August 13, participants will start with a guided tour of the Island Made exhibition with co-curator, Tricia Dobson. The Culture and environment boat trip will provide the public with an opportunity to meet the exhibiting artists and makers and experience an afternoon of arts, cultural and environmental activities, with Quandamooka storytellers and Southern Moreton Bay Islands Coastcare volunteers sharing their knowledge of the islands and waterways along the way. Also included are arts and environmental demonstrations and workshops with Island Made exhibition artists and makers includes Welcome to Country, weaving, ceramics, papermaking, silverwork and boomerang bag making.
