Island historian Peter Ludlow will give a talk on Peel Island at Fort Lytton National Park, South Street from 10.30am on Saturday, September 9.
The talk is hosted by The Friends of Peel Island with a morning tea held from 9.30am prior to the talk. Ludlow has been researching and writing about the unique history of Peel Island since 1977.
With his PowerPoint presentation, Ludlow will highlight Peel's history including pre-European occupation, its use by Europeans and, in 2007, the island being gazetted as a national and conservation park and the lazaret buildings being heritage listed. His talk is entitled the history behind the horseshoe.
The Friends of Peel Island Exhibition Room will be open following the talk. Entry is $25 including a two-course chicken, ham and salad lunch and a lucky door prize entrance ticket.
