Redlands United came from behind to share the points with Brisbane Roar Youth in a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon at AJ Kelly Park, Kippa-Ring.
It was the final round of the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland competition for 2017 but despite neither team being able to make the finals series, both sides still wanted to finish their season on a win.
Roar Youth started the game strongly, and were able to get an early shot away on goal from Nathan Yoon but young Redlands goalkeeper James Edgar was able to make the save.
It would take until the half hour mark for Roar Youth to make their mark as Lloyd Cabilan was brought down in the box.
Adam Sawyer converted from the spot.
Roar Youth doubled their lead 10 minutes later through Rahmat Akbari after he was played through on goal.
The side continued their dominant display until half time as they headed to the sheds with a comfortable lead.
As the second half began, Roar Youth continued to dominate in front of goal but after Adam Sawyer received his marching orders after a second yellow card, Redlands found their way back into the game and started to apply the pressure to the 10-men Roar.
It would take another 20 minutes but Redlands started their comeback courtesy of Graham Fyfe, who scored from inside the box.
Forward Feli Sheriff then made the scores level just minutes later with a powerful strike.
Each side had their chances to seal the match but the defence held strong for both teams.
Redlands will not be able to defend their PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Championship after a slow start to the 2017 season. They will finish 2017 in ninth position.
Brisbane Strikers have defended their Premiership title from 2016 to finish top of the table with Gold Coast City, Western Pride and Moreton Bay Jets have also secured spots in the finals series.
Redlands finished the season in good form with wins against Brisbane City and Northern Fury along with close defeats to top four sides Moreton Bay Jets, Gold Coast City, and Premiers Brisbane Strikers.
In 2018, Redlands United will be celebrating their century year with celebrations expected to be finalised in the coming months.
