The second stage of the NSW State of Origin review will continue on Friday, where it is unlikely a decision on the coach for next series will be reached.
While Blues coach Laurie Daley is expected to be granted a one-year contract extension despite losing this year's series, the NSWRL board is planning an extensive review that is likely to delay an announcement over Daley's future.
Fairfax Media understands Daley's adviser, Peter Sterling, as well as assistant coaches Matt Parish and John Cartwright, will present to the board as part of a detailed breakdown of where it all went wrong for NSW.
If Daley holds on to the top job, his assistants are likely to come under fire. It's not the first time Parish's role has come under scrutiny, with Cartwright appointed this year to help carry the load and provide some fresh ideas to a team that has won just one of the past 12 Origin series.
Blues football manager Andrew Farrar will also have to front the board to answer some of the tough questions, especially given the off-field concerns surrounding team culture that were highlighted through the Josh Dugan-Blake Ferguson fiasco leading into the decider.
Sterling, who was unable to attend the first part of the review last month because he was unwell, replaced long-time Blues mentor Bob Fulton this year, but admitted he was unsure whether he wanted the job again given the level of scrutiny and criticism levelled at NSW for throwing away a one-game advantage to lose the series.
Daley and NSWRL chief executive Dave Trodden fronted the board on the opening day of the review last month, highlighting the pros and cons of the campaign.
NSWRL chairman George Peponis, who on Monday returned from a three-week overseas trip, has ordered a thorough examination of all aspects of the business surrounding the Origin set-up, from media to team operations and the coaching staff.
The board will also reflect on some of the venue decisions for the three camps in 2017, with recommendations likely to be made as NSW begin to make plans for next year.
It is unclear whether the Blues will stay at The Star again next year given the backlash the decision caused, especially when prop Andrew Fifita told a group of journalists after game two that the players preferred game one preparations in Kingscliff on the NSW north coast.
The opening game of the 2018 series will be played in Melbourne, which will likely force the NSWRL to rethink their strategy when it comes to the camp leading into the first game.
The second game will be played in Sydney on a Sunday night during a standalone representative round, before the third game in Brisbane in July.
