Darwalla Group was announced as the state winner at a gala dinner in Brisbane on Friday.
Training Minister Yvette D’Ath said more than 800 nominations were received, with 86 individuals and organisations vying for the top spots.
“The 56th Queensland Training Awards showcase individuals for their professional skills, expertise and dedication, and recognise organisations for excellence in supporting Queenslanders through training,” she said.
“The awards also celebrate quality teachers and employers who understand the value of investing in training for their staff.”
Darwalla’s human resources and quality assurance manager Juan Corredor said the company had been nominated four times for the award since 2013.
They reached the finals three times and won the award for the south-east Queensland employer of the year in 2013.
Mr Corredor said the award was a significant achievement.
“At Darwalla we firmly believe that our employees are our most valuable asset and for that we are committed to assisting employees in reaching their full potential through education,” Mr Corredor said.
“All staff members undergo training, including non-accredited internal programs and accredited courses in poultry production, competitive systems, leadership and management.
“Upskilling existing workers has prepared these individuals for their current and future roles with the business and improved safety for everyone involved.
Mr Corredor said Darwalla had been entered into a shortlisting process for the national awards which would be held in Canberra in November.
Brenton Hill, of Birkdale, won the equity vocational education and training student of the year for the south-east Queensland region.
