Many parents of children with ASD and other developmental disorders feel like they can’t parent their child.
Parenting on a good day is a challenge; add a diagnosis, and you have just blown that challenge into epic proportions. Parents have come to believe that they must relinquish their parental role to the professionals.
RDI philosophy
Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) disagrees with the notion that parents are not equal to the task of raising their children successfully.
You are highly motivated for your children to succeed in the world, and attain the highest quality of life possible. You have a natural inclination and a natural ability to parent your children.
Is the task at hand huge and scary? Certainly. However, with proper coaching, you can do it.
Parents are the most biologically and physiologically and emotionally suited to make the difference in their child’s life. Over a lifespan, good parents are the most valuable asset a child can have.
Parent training
RDI consultants support families who know that ‘something’s up’ and don’t know what to do to help their child. They give parents the means to provide their children with the knowledge, mental skills, habits and mindsets needed to thrive in a complex, unpredictable, stressful world.
RDI also helps to build better, and more trusting, relationships as we focus each activity on experience sharing, rather than dominating.
