If you could choose a "superteam" from every player who has won an AFL premiership from 2000 onwards, who would you pick? In the lead-up to this year's grand final, we've made the job easier by looking at the stats for every player who has won a flag this century, then building an interactive so you can assemble your own team.
Once you've nominated your team, gloat about how good it is on social media. But firstly, check out the teams selected by some of our scribes and how they've explained the tough selection decisions:
JON PIERIK
Selecting a final side from such an esteemed squad as this is not easy but I feel my 22 has struck a balance between skill, toughness and reliability, particularly in a midfield featuring such stars as Michael Voss and Ben Cousins. There is balance up forward, where Cyril Rioli and Gavin Wanganeen lurk amid some of the greatest key forwards of all time. Starting Matthew Scarlett on the bench may raise eye-brows but Heath Grundy has been one of the more under-rated defenders of his generation. Chad Cornes can play tall or small - and provide colourful lip.
SCOTT SPITS
You can't pick a bad team based on the quality of eligible players. But, yes, I have managed to leave out the one and only Michael Voss. I'm rapt with my midfield, however, and feel equally good with James Hird and Jason Akermanis in the forward half. I've got an undeniable bias towards the multiple premiership teams with only three players from single flag teams - Hird, Matthew Lloyd and Damien Hardwick - earning selection. I've lobbed for Brad Ottens in the ruck with 'super sub' Clark Keating named on the bench. Would love to see this combination grace the MCG turf on grand final day.
DANIEL CHERNY
When Gary Ablett is arguably the weakest grand final link in your starting midfield, you know you've got a pretty reasonable team. There are premiership heroes all over the park, starting from the rocks of Barry and Lake in defence, through to the dashing Johannisen, the sheer presence of Ottens, and a forward line full of Hawthorn premiership players, including Lance Franklin, whose best grand final performances may have come in losing sides in 2012 and 2014. I didn't want to leave out Nick Malceski for his brilliance in the 2012 decider, while David Hale adds versatility.
