Personal trainer and health and fitness expert Nathan Devlin, of Fit Stuff, shares his seven key factors which influence our resolve to improving our health.
1 – Motivation
It seems like Fitness 101 – without motivation you aren’t going to achieve your goals. And it rings true, Nathan says.
“Motivation isn’t something you just find. It is an emotional feeling that is driven by something that inspires you to do better, more or something great. Inspiration creates motivation,” he said.
2 – Inspiration
Where can we find inspiration to improve our health? By looking around us.
“Looking for real stories and real life experiences from others that surround you that have the biggest impact,” Nathan said.
“We (Fit Stuff) have some amazing member stories that absolutely everyone will relate too.”

3 – Habits
Creating habits is key to health success. It is said that it takes around three weeks to build and create a long lasting habit. Changing habits in your lifestyle to more positive habits are the key to long lasting success.
4 – Nutrition
“Clean food that’s from the earth and not from packets is what we need,” Nathan said. “If we all ate fresh food that was living and grown, the state of our health would be extremely different.
“I can say that many people are taking a more positive and cleaner approach to their lifestyle.”
5 – Fitness
How do you tailor fitness to meet individual goals? When meeting members for the first time we sit and chat and discuss the main reasons for them wanting to reach these goals then we simply create an individual plan based around their lifestyle and timetable.
6 – Lifestyle
Whether we want to admit it or not lifestyle plays a big role in our overall fitness. “Lifestyle is the absolute key to overall and long lasting changes,” Nathan said.
“The most recent challenge run by Fit Stuff was called a life changing challenge focused highly on habits, routines and activities in and out of the home. Educating family members also part of the bigger picture and balance is the objective.”
7 – Professional advice
As much as we think we know through internet research and general knowledge, it pays off to have a professional. Nathan says real personal trainers are not just your trainer.
“They need to be your mentor and motivator and the person that holds you accountable to your actions whilst you are going through your lifestyle changes,” Nathan said.
