TWO Redlands men were charged with a range of offences, including imitating a police officer, after a woman was reportedly assaulted and a man injured during an alleged four hour crime spree early on Saturday, October 14.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the pair, an 18-year-old Capalaba man and a 22-year-old Wellington Point man, were apprehended by police after the car they travelled in crashed along Rosella Street at Wellington Point about 5.50am on Saturday.
The men were taken into custody by police at the scene and are set to appear before Cleveland Magistrates Court today.
The spokesperson said police would allege the two men had broken into a Cambridge Parade address at Manly about 2am and stolen car keys, before assaulting a 43-year-old woman who attempted to stop them.
The spokesperson said the woman suffered serious facial injuries and was transported to Redland Hospital.
“The pair then fled the scene on foot,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said it would be alleged the pair later broke into a Singer Street address at Wynnum about 2.45am, where a vehicle was stolen and driven to an address at Finucane Road, Alexandra Hills.
The spokesperson said it would be further alleged the two men told the home’s 69-year-old male occupant they were police officers and forced their way in before making threats towards the resident, assaulting the victim and damaging and stealing property.
The spokesperson said the man suffered bruising and lacerations and was treated at the scene.
The 22-year-old Wellington Point man was charged with ten offences, including grievous bodily harm, impersonating a police officer, enter premises and commit indictable offence, enter dwelling with intent, burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, wilful damage and enter dwelling with intent and robbery.
The 18-year-old Capalaba man was charged with seven offences, includin impersonating a police officer, enter premises and commit indictable offence, enter dwelling and commit indictable offence, wilful damage, burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and enter dwelling with intent and robbery.
The spokesperson said the men were both denied bail and were remanded in custody to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on Monday, October 16.
