Sugar Cane Slim aka Lex Waddell holds a day job as an accountant, but on weekends, you’ll find him performing with his guitar.
Sugar Cane Slim traverses the highways and by-ways of folk, blues and Americana, playing fingerstyle guitar in standard and open tunings, with the addition of dobro and harp. Inspired by Doc Watson, Big Bill Broonzy, Chet Atkins and Merle Travis, Slim cooks up some fine old time picking and singing.
Sugar Cane Slim will be facilitating a free workshop on fingerstyle guitar at Folk Redlands from 2pm to 4pm on November 5 at Indigiscapes, 17 Runnymede Road Capalaba. He will be joined by Mama Juju for an afternoon of country blues.
The workshop will cover an introduction to fingerstyle guitar and "maximising with the minimum": arrangement and performance tips for solos and duos.
Blackboard performers are invited to open the show with 20 minute slots available from 1pm, on a first in basis.
