Redeemer Lutheran College will cancel its fair this Saturday, October 21, due to the wet weather forecast for the weekend.
Principal Tanya Crooks said the college executive and P&F Fair Committee decided on Tuesday to cancel the event.
“Given that we needed to inform various stall and ride providers by Wednesday afternoon whether the event will continue, we have had to make the call early,” she said.
“Considering the latest weather information and forecasts we are not able to ensure the safety of the event or guarantee that people would be able to use the rides, many of which will not operate even in light rain.
“Similarly, we know that the recent rains have also meant that we would not be able to utilise many of the grassed areas including the chapel green, which is saturated.”
Rain over the past week has boosted south-east Queensland dams.
The current drinking water supply capacity of the Grid Twelve dams covering the greater Brisbane area including Redlands is 75.5 per cent, an increase of 4.5 per cent from October 13.
Grid Twelve makes up nearly 90 per cent of south east Queensland’s total water storage volume.
Redland’s Leslie Harrison Dam is on 92 per cent.
