Paul Murray has had the Mollymook Cup marked in the calendar for quite a while as the race he wanted to win again with Chief In Command or Coolotta.
The pair ran the quinella in the race last year, which honours his late father Bede, and Murray is not worried about the big weights they will carry at Nowra on Sunday.
"I rang the handicapper about a month ago to find out what Chief In Command would get and I was quite happy to run with 66kg. He is good enough to win it with that weight," Murray said. "This is the race will have targeted because of Dad.
"This is the meeting he and Eddie Latta put together and it was one his favourite days of the year. For us to have the trifecta last year was very satisfying and I think we can go close to doing it again."
Coolotta is coming off an open class win at Moruya back to a benchmark 65, where will be asked to carry 65kg, while Murray owns Better Be Cautious with his partner Michelle Ritchie.
"We didn't think it would get into the race, but we would like to think he will run a good race as well," Murray said.
But maybe the most sentimental runner for the Murray camp for the afternoon is One For Bede in the Eddie Latta Memorial.
"It was one of the last horses Dad and I picked out together and when he died his good mate, Graham Morrissey rang me and said I'll have that horse," Murray said. "He is coming up from Melbourne for the meeting and if this horse can win Eddie race it would be fitting.
"He won to start this preparation and has been running good races since and is ready to run the race of his life."
