A 30-YEAR-OLD Carina man was arrested by police after break and enters, gun shots and car thefts occurred in the Redlands and Moreton Bay areas early Sunday morning.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said police would allege the man was involved in an about two-and-a-half hour crime spree between 12.20am and 3.05am on Sunday, October 29, after a Toyota Prada was reported stolen from Mount Gravatt East on Friday, October 27.
Police alleged a gun was fired at but did not strike a 43-year-old male resident who chased the man at an Isla Avenue intersection at Redland Bay just after 12.20am on Sunday.
Police said the man was chased after he allegedly assaulted a 56-year-old male in a neighbouring home and brandished a gun at a 33-year-old male along Burmah Boulevard shortly before.
Police alleged the man then forced entry into a Balsam Street home about 1am and stole a Mitsubishi Triton, which was later driven at four people who walked along Bankswood Drive.
“Police were able to track the ute using GPS from a stolen mobile phone that was in the vehicle,” the spokesperson said.
“Polair tracked the ute north on the Bruce Highway to Caloundra before returning to the highway and heading south.”
The spokesperson said the man abandoned the Mitsubishi Triton after crashing it at Caboolture, before he travelled towards Bribie Island in a stolen Toyota Landcruiser 4WD.
“At 3.05am police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device on the eastern side of the Bribie bridge,” the spokesperson said.
“The vehicle stopped on Verdoni Street in Bellara and the man forced entry into a nearby house where he was arrested by police shortly after.”
The spokesperson said the man, once apprehended, was taken to hospital for leg injuries sustained from a police dog during the arrest.
At the time of online publication, investigations were continuing and no one had been charged.
