EXTENSIVE land and air searches by police at Wellington Point Reserve have failed to find missing woman Naima Hassan.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said Ms Hassan, 27, had not made contact with family, friends or work colleagues since she was reported missing over the weekend.
Ms Hassan’s Nissan car was found by police at Wellington Point Reserve late Sunday afternoon, triggering searches throughout the area.
The spokesperson said the search continued and appealed to the public for information.
Acting Detective Inspector Richard Lacey, from Upper Mount Criminal Investigation Branch, said Ms Hassan was last seen by her family on Saturday, October 28.
Her disappearance has been described as out of character.
“Naima left home on Saturday morning and we’ve not seen any indication that she did not plan on returning,” he said.
Detective Lacey said the last confirmed sighting of Ms Hassan was on Sunday morning about 10.30am, October 29.
CCTV footage captured Ms Hassan buying a chocolate from the BP petrol station at Wellington Point, before her car was found by police later that afternoon.
“We have no clear indication at this stage what she was doing in the Wellington Point area on Sunday or where she may have spent Saturday night,” Detective Lacey said.
“We continue to appeal for information from the public – from anyone who may have seen Naima or her vehicle over the weekend.”
Police described Ms Hassan, who is of Somalian background, as about 170cm tall, with a slim build, dark complexion, black hair and brown eyes.
She was last seen wearing a white, long sleeve top and pants and black hijab.
Ms Hassan drove a grey or silver 2016 Nissan Qashai, which was later found parked at Wellington Point Reserve opposite the toilet block.
