As a journalist who has worked in a number of different communities in NSW and Queensland I’m looking forward to getting to know the people of the Redlands.
Having grown up in Armidale, NSW and got my degree from my hometown university, The University of New England, I accepted my first journalism role at The Armidale Express.
I was a general rounds journalist there for a year covering everything from police and court reporting and community news before accepting the role of sports editor, a role I thoroughly enjoyed for almost two years.
I took some time away from full time journalism for a number of years to gain some experience in other areas including administration and community services but always planned to return.
I returned to the profession in 2014 at The Glen Innes Examiner before taking up an offer to transfer to the Jimboomba Times.
In August of 2015 I was given the role of contributed content journalist for Jimboomba Times, Beaudesert Times, The North West Star and the eventually the Redland City Bulletin.
This required me to take a step back from full time reporting to organising contributed content for four separate mastheads in four different communities, it was a role I enjoyed but my passion for reporting never left me.
When the opportunity to join the newsroom team at the Redland City Bulletin became available I jumped at the chance to join an experienced and dedicated team of journalists.
Being new to the area I look forward to getting out in the community and meeting the people of the Redlands.
I am passionate about journalism of all kinds but do admit to a strong interest in sports stories as well as community and education based news.
