Birch Carroll and Coyle (BCC) Cinemas Capalaba will host a sensory friendly film session for families living with autism and other sensory needs on December 3.
The cinema will show the film Son of Bigfoot on the big screen and cinema general manager said the monthly sensory friendly screenings are a service the venue is enthusiastic about offering the community.
Held on a Sunday morning each month, sensory friendly screenings allow families to enjoy films in a safe and accepting environment where kids are free to get up and move around, even shout and sing.
Cinema lights are dimmed so parents can still observe their children and the film’s sound is lowered for sensitive ears.
“We are proud to offer sensory friendly films for families in our local community who previously hadn't attended the cinema for fear of disturbing other patrons in a public session,”manager Danica Ellis said.
“These sessions offer an escape to the movies in a relaxed environment and enable guests to enjoy quality family time and most importantly be free to be themselves.”
Tickets to the Son of Bigfoot sensory friendly screening are $6 (plus online booking fee), for session times and to book tickets head online to eventcinemas.com.au or see the venue.
