The LNP’s Julie Talty has committed to investing $200,000 in the Mount Cotton’s Scouts Queensland Karingal Campsite.
Cr Talty said an LNP-led Government would invest the money towards equipment that would be used by children and Scout groups from across south-east Queensland.
“The Karingal Scouts site is one of our community’s hidden gems and is visited by thousands of children every year,” Cr Talty said.
“Not only does this facility help keep our children active and healthy, it has helped countless children learn important life skills through hands-on activities.
“Recreational facilities are the lifeblood of our community and I am excited to be able to pledge $200,000 to ensure the Karingal Scout facility can continue to teach our children valuable life-long skills.”
Scouts Queensland spokesman Scott Revell welcomed the announcement, saying the funding would help them build the dedicated adventure activity area they had been wanting for years.
“This funding will help provide a new abseiling area and low ropes course that will benefit Scouts and the thousands of other children enjoying our beautiful outdoors,” Mr Revell said.
Cr Talty said that if she was elected to represent Springwood, she would fight for facilites for community groups.
