Two come from behind victories headlined a weekend of nail-biting contests and attritional battles for Redlands teams.
The Jodie Fields Shield side defeated South Brisbane away from home on Sunday. Redlands dismissed the opposition for just 88 before chasing down the runs at near breakneck speed. Delyse Laycock and Sarah Lockhart took 2 wickets each, while with the bat it was Kate McDonald (50) who did most of the heavy lifting for Redlands.
First Grade pulled off a miraculous victory against Gold Coast on Peter Burge Oval thanks to a 65 run partnership for the 9th wicket between Michael Herdman (43) and Jon Stimpson (20). Queensland batsmen Marnus Labuschagne and James Peirson also played influential innings in the Tigers chase, scoring 79 and 45 respectively.
The Second Grade batsmen battled hard in the second innings of their two-day clash with Gold Coast away from home. The opposition declared with the score on 4/233, 109 runs ahead of the Tigers first innings total. Redlands battled hard in the second innings to end the day on 6/172. Marty Miers top scored with 46, while Cameron French chipped in with a quick-fire 33.
Third Grade also went down to Gold Coast on Fred Kratzman Oval. The Tigers were made to toil in the field as the opposition posted 282 before declaring five wickets down. Redlands were 6/55 in the second innings before Jimmy Carr (60*) and Michael McEwan (41*) combined to push the score beyond 160 by stumps and avoid an outright loss.
Fourth Grade trumped Gold Coast away from home, dismissing them for 174 in pursuit of the Tigers’ 249. A sublime spell from Pearce Anderson, who took 5 wickets for just four runs, did most of the damage for Redlands and ensured the Tigers walked away from the two-day fixture with first innings points.
Fifth Grade one pulled off an unlikely victory against Northern Suburbs on Peter Burge Oval last Sunday to maintain their unbeaten record. The Tigers recovered from 4/19 to chase down the opposition’s first innings total of 197 nine wickets down. Tom Gittings was the man of the hour for Redlands, batting for the entire day to score an unbeaten 108. Jacob Apted also made a vital contribution of 39 at a crucial junction in the game and helped the Tigers edge their way towards a stunning victory.

Sixth Grade one lost outright to Valley in a two-day fixture away from home. Redlands dismissed the opposition for 155 and found themselves just 50 runs behind when they began their second innings, but a batting collapse saw the Tigers lose all ten wickets for 47 runs. James Sim was the stand out with the ball for the Tigers in the first innings, claiming 3 wickets for 29 runs.
Sixth Grade two held on with bat in hand to secure a draw against Toombul on Ron Field Oval. Redlands were 4/166 in pursuit of Toombul’s 277 when stumps were called. Will Read top scored with 76, while Jason Lau (27) and Stephan Muller (21) both made vital contributions that saw the game end in a stalemate.

The Tigers dismissed the opposition for 238 after winning the toss and electing to field. Matt Short led the way with the ball to claim 4 wickets, while Dylan Kritzinger chipped in with 2. Redlands were dismissed for 180 in pursuit despite a number of starts from the likes of Sam Geyer (30), Isaiah Shepherd (23), and Matt Short (22).
The Shane Watson Cup side went down in a nail biter to Darling Downs on Ron Field Oval last Sunday. The Tigers restricted the opposition to a defendable 238, but fell two runs short in the last over of the run chase. Ethan Hemingray led the way with the ball and pegged back the run rate after a strong start from the opposition’s top order with a spell of 4/26. Tom Waters (50), Ethan Hemingray (39) and Luke Jones (34) all batted well but couldn’t quite complete the job.
