Flathead have been a little harder to find but last weekend’s slower tides and clearing water quality helped turn up good numbers, especially hanging around inside bar entrances.
The Logan river is still very dirty and not holding many fish.
A few bull sharks and threadfin have ventured into it on the top of the tide, but it’s eel and catfish city up in the river near Carbrook.
The broadwater has better water quality water and fish, whiting are being caught in all rivers, feeder creeks and the broadwater.
There’s been very few mangrove jack caught since the heavy rain but we saw a few last week and more again over the weekend so they are building back up again.
There’s also been mulloway in and around the seaway on the tide changes.

In Moreton Bay the mackerel have been hot off the sandhills, just about any sandbank area that is known to produce diver whiting will also produce school and spotty mackerel.
Just make sure you have a floater out if you’re fishing the area.
The artificial reefs are still fishing slow, hardly a brag photo taken for a few weeks, the Bay island shallows have been more productive for snapper, especially before sunrise.
Sand crabs have been in good numbers this week, just about any place you’ve caught them in the past is well worth targeting now.
Muddies have not been as good as they were a few weeks ago but most people putting pots in are catching a feed.
Current has been an issue offshore, making it very hard to fish the bottom even with 16oz of lead, float-lining has been almost impossible.
There were a few early season Spanish caught this week from around the group off Point Lookout.
They will turn up just about anywhere but the top spots are usually close to exposed rocks, islands or headlands.
Trolled skirted lures are often the best way to find them early in the season because you’re covering more water but if you’re fishing the area it should be well worth putting a live bait out.
