Trust the process.
It's the mantra made famous by the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and it's what the Canberra Capitals are living by in a bid to revive their WNBL campaign.
A finals berth is almost impossible for the Capitals as they look to snap an eight-match losing streak, with Canberra needing to win almost all of their remaining 11 games to sneak into the top four.
But Canberra captain Natalie Hurst is adamant the Capitals can turn their fortunes around in a clash with the Melbourne Boomers at the State Basketball Centre on Saturday, a la the resurgent 76ers.
Philadelphia were one of the worst teams in NBA history over an ugly three-year stretch, determined to acquire high draft picks in the hope they would unearth a future star.
Today the 76ers boast some of the game's best young talents in Joel Embiid and Australian Ben Simmons, and the franchise is looking at a promising future.
The Capitals are in the midst of a six-year finals drought but they've unearthed one of basketball's brightest young stars in Eziyoda Magbegor and promising point guard Maddison Rocci.
Hurst admits it has been tough trying to get 12 players and four coaches all one the same page when it comes to crunch time but her belief in the group has never wavered.
"We've got the right process, we're on the right track. We just haven't been able to string four quarters together," Hurst said.
"That's why I think there's so much belief still within the team and we don't get down as a group. We stay positive, we're not fractured, we have all the right things, and it's just about getting it done on the court.
"Our process is there, we're working on it, we chip away at it every day and hopefully it'll start to turn into wins.
"We've just got to get it done. It's tough, it's almost tougher than the physical side of it to be able to get the mental side down pat.
"We really need to get it done and we want to get some wins. If we want to get wins, we need to get the mental side going the way that we need it to go.
"Within the group we're aware of what needs to get done. It's just a matter of getting it done now. We've talked and talked and talked, and it's time to get it out on the court."
The Capitals face the ominous task of shutting down firing Boomers star Liz Cambage, who dropped 44 points against Adelaide last week and is averaging a league-high 21.7 points per game.
Capitals coach Paul Goriss has put his side through a heavy workload at training in a bid to help Canberra's execution under fatigue and stop fourth quarter fadeouts.
"That's the good thing about our group, is that they turn up every day working hard regardless of the result," Goriss said.
"I'm mindful of the over workload but we've still got to keep working hard and that's got to be a trait of our group."
